Calvary Lutheran Church    Council Meeting Summary               June 16, 2011

•Treasurer’s Report -  Deficit shrinking – Revenues exceeded expenses in the month of May, so our YTD deficit is down to $1764.

•Pastor’s Report –

•Synod assembly—The worship and music that the Calvary team put on went very well. Soul Café is an online community for ELCA region 1.

•Sabbatical prep—Marilyn is authorized by the Executive Committee to make the decisions in the office during Matthew’s sabbatical.

•Condo Proceeds Update – We received a check for $1000 from the ELCA Endowment Fund back on fees.

•Health Ministry Task Force Recommendation—The task force recommended that a health ministry subcommittee be formed and report into one of the council committees.  We would like more information about what this subcommittee would do.

•Replacement for Church Librarian

•Narthex Lighting Project—Joe presented an electrical bid for putting in new lighting along with some repair for narthex lighting. Ermine made a motion to authorize the work covered by the electrical bid, up to $2500, using the $1700 of designated donations, with the balance of the money coming from the memorial fund.  Jay seconded.   Joe amended the motion to authorize Joe to get approval from the Executive Committee if costs exceed $2500.  Motion passed.

•July Meeting—the Executive Committee will meet; the full council will not.

• Building Maintenance—Joe is getting bid proposals to present in August for parking lot repairs that will get us by for 3-5 years.  He will also get a quote for a full repave just to know what will be required in the future.  Door closures have been redone, and have been added in the bathrooms.   Joe talked about other potential future issues, including replacing the exterior door near the sacristy (estimated at $700), and moving the trash dumpster closer to the parking lot exit to prevent garbage truck damage.

• Fellowship – 2011-2012 calendar of events was distributed.  Terri also distributed rules for kitchen use.

• Social Ministry—Still plenty of open spots to serve food in the Outpost food distribution in the last week of June and last week of July.
